Internet Access at the University of Limerick

  • Wireless Internet access

Wireless internet access is available in select areas of the university campus. To access the network, you may simply use your wireless device to access the network in the manner in which you are both familiar and comfortable. There are two items that are specific to the university
    1. The "wireless network ID" is ulwireless
    2. All UL networks operate via a "proxy server" The address for the proxy is www.staff-proxy.ul.ie and the port is 8080

If these terms are not familiar to you, please do not hesitate to ask one of our staff for assistance. Designated staff will be present during the conference to assist you. If you have questions or queries, please contact brian.lake@ul.ie , mentioning "ifip82 wireless access" in your mesage subject. We will attempt to assist wherever possible.

  • Supplemental wireless network instructions [pdf]
  • Using a Mac? This guide may be of help. [pdf]. Please note: this is an unofficial guide - if you have trouble please see the support personnel at registration.
  • If you are on campus, unable to find support at registration and in immediate and urgent need of assistance, please call +353 (0) 87 683 5166 and ask for Brian. We will attempt to call and assist you.

  • Wired Internet Access

Regrettably, use of cable-based Internet for your portable computer is not possible due to university IT regulations. If you require internet access and will not be bringing a computer with wireless access, please let us know - we will seek to accomodate your needs.

  • Adare, Co Limerick

Ireland's answer to the cosy English village must surely be Adare, where the Third Earl of Dunraven built a street with thatched cottages and hedges at the gates of his early Victorian Manor. History had already endowed the place with an exquisite backdrop to further please the eye - a Norman castle beside the River Maigue and the best collection of ruined mediaeval friaries in Ireland.
